Setup Cannot Copy File Windows 2000
Put the HDD from the Other machine (Which I know works) into my machine and tried installing. I highlight the C: Partition (NTFS) and press the 'D' to delete it. I just bought a new pc and iam trying to install windows but after the disk formats and is settingup windows a msg comes up saying that cannot copy file.xxx. Another factor is what service pack level is the OEM install at ? check over here
I suspect that the hard drive on your machine is overdue for replacement if it is the original one and the CD rom drive too. If I click ok it goes to blue screen of death and I cuss at that pile until I feel like trying to compile ANOTHER ISO... Interestingly, I have performed numerous installs previously with no problem. Finally I cleaned the cd and it installed. And after this I couldn't restart my computer, I would solve the problem with reinstalling XP again, but from this time it says it could not copy his files.

The thing is, I've retried installing it and sometimes, files that can't be copied will actually copy other times I try. I usually take the suspect drive, put it in another machine, and reformat it there. I wanna try booting the CD from the CD ROM DRIVE but I don't know how, it doesn't work when I insert it in there. So far I've been doing this for about 8 hours and I'm at my wits end. You probably need a Service Pack update after the install anyway and all or at least a lot of the real important files will get updated/replaced.
It is normal behavior to see an error in the setuperr.log regarding this issue. Try making only $OEM$ directory and TEXTMODE directory but not copying driver files into $OEM$ directory, only on TEXTMODE, it worked fine for me.
