And after this I couldn't restart my computer, I would solve the problem with reinstalling XP again, but from this time it says it could not copy his files. I know this is an old thread, but for the benefit of others who may find it, I had the same problem and successfully resolved it. D:\i386\fconprov.mo_ was copied to C:\WINDOWS\system32\WBEM\fconprov.mof. Unfortunatly i used the Windows Home Edition UPGRADE disk by mistake and do no have the product key, so i tried restarting the repair using a Windows Home Edition disk.
It installed OK, but now it won't allow me to log in because it's asking me to activate Windows first, and it can't connect to the Net for some reason. If you dont know anybody that can help, only the first few options are open to you, and if you have no working OS on the PC now, that complicates matters
C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\driver.cab was copied to C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\enum1394.sys. but right now the install process with windows xp32 works fine but I got recently 8gb additional ram memory installed so I will try later to change the installation to xp64Click D:\i386\xml.xs_ was copied to C:\WINDOWS\system32\WBEM\xml.xsl. D:\i386\wmipiprt.mo_ was copied to C:\WINDOWS\system32\WBEM\wmipiprt.mof.

Re-registering a file per the article below solved that problem. Now I have the option to continue setup without the file or exit setup. It's possible that the installation fails because the harddisk is infected?

I have 32 bit XP Home on my desktop (P4 3.4Ghz) with 4Gb ram of which it recognises 3.5Gb. Thanx! If this doesn't work, it appears the only option left I have to do what AJR suggested. have a peek at these guys I have come across this many times with customers CD that have not been looked after.
