I have a question which I would like your input on: When you set up your initial image using RIPREP, how do you stop Group Policy from installing your apps? New disks no problem - new mobo is more difficult.

I'm very happy with Macrium and will be using it to do an image backup before I upgrade to Win10. Get geeky trivia, fun facts, and much more. Confirm that it is the correct image file (the name matches the one you want, the drive size and partitions match, and so on). check my blog You'll boot back into your Windows machine and everything will be good as new and exactly like it was the day you made the image. We stored ours on a removable USB 3.0 drive with plenty of space to spare. I had to add characters to get the directories to flow with the HAL and nic card configs.

I have people ask me what I would recommend and why, but I am at lost for words. You'll see a "System Image Backup" link, which will open the "Backup and Restore (Windows 7)" tool. Since HTG has been using Macrium Reflect for years, this recent but not the latest version should perform fine.

In the left-hand navigation panel of the main window select "Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows" as seen in the screenshot below.

In parallels it runs setup and shows me this window: Select the Operating System you want to install: There are no images available. My method modifies the image directly on the server. When the process is complete it's safe to eject the recovery disk (you won't need it again until it is time to restore your system at a later date). Choose your keyboard layout when asked, and then select the "Restore your computer using a system image that you created earlier" option in the System Recovery Options window.

On Windows 10 or 8.1, you'll see the same options you would in the boot options above. To make a looong story useful:1) connect the drive as external to a correctly operating system2) Use diskpart to "clean" the drive.3) Connect the drive to its computer and boot with Macrium Reflect, even in the free version, has a very excellent automated backup system but that's totally overkill for our needs as we're making a one off backup. There is just one typo mistake in RIS image section. For example, my SIF file already had OemPreinstall = no. Navigate to \\SERVER\REMINST\Setup\Language\Images\RIPrep\i386
