Your bios will tell you which key to press, you'll see a message like "Press Del for Setup, F12 for menu" (it's a little different on each machine). Next option is copy the entire installation disk onto either the hard drive (a separate partition) or a plug-in USB drive and boot from something else, switch to the copied image

In the meantime how do I do a full format on the drive? but right now the install process with windows xp32 works fine but I got recently 8gb additional ram memory installed so I will try later to change the installation to xp64 When attempting to install ME again, I had similar copying errors, but found a txt file on the CD which had detailed instructions to solve this kind of problem. I'm assuming you already know with XP you have to set your BIOS to "run HDDs as IDE" or install SATA pre-drivers . (The Intel floppy disc thingy). Also, is it possible to get some version of DOS on a CD ?

It is a member of the Microsoft Partner Program. Setuporg.exe And Presetup.cmd Not Found Examine the CD surface for scratches. Also, its probably never 'good' if XP fails on a few files, but if you can skip them without a BSOD on install it likely isn't the end of the world.

Register now! You should try replacing your system RAM and run the Windows XP installation program again. As it turns out I had one (out of four) bad 256 Mb RAM module. And if the Windows DVD is dirty, you have to clean it correctly.
